I love rainy days at Starbucks, black licorice, and smooth jazz. But most of all I love kids; all ages! Uncovering their gifts so that they can give those gifts to the world, gets me out of bed in the morning. Having been a general education and special education teacher for more that 25 years, I have heard and seen it all. I am a teacher and educational therapist. An educational therapist is a fancy name for tutor. Though there is a difference. A tutor is like a doctor. An ed therapist is the surgeon. I know how to get in there, find student’s gifts, put them to use, and put their confidence back together again. I have shingles for this line of work. I graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Theatre. My Master’s of Science Degree is from Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Ca.It’s in Special Education with a minor in Mediated Learning. I have two Special Education Credentials and a General Education Credential as well. While I am proud of these accomplishments, my fulfillment comes when my students prosper. I tutor a precious third grader who told me that he hoped that when he grows up and has children that I’d still be tutoring so that I can tutor his kids. He feels safe, respected, and knows the joy of learning. That’s why I love what I do.
Nice picture of you Rhory.. I wish I had rhymes to help me with spelling.Talk to you soon.LG
Lisa,
Thanks! Your spelling is fine. Spelling is no indicator of intelligence. That’s for sure. If that were the case, we’d have fewer doctors, teachers, and seminar leaders. I’ve seen many an error there. Have a good one.
